KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Stater (Gold, 18 mm, 8.59 g, 7 h), Pella, struck under Philip II or Alexander III, circa 340-328. Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠOY Charioteer driving biga to right, holding reins in his left hand and goad in his right; below horses, trident right. Le Rider 227ff. SNG ANS 144-154. Lustrous and attractive, with a fine style head of Apollo. Tiny marks on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
